Interesting thought re: APA/CKI.  However, I thought SXY wasn't in the pipeline business (which is why they signed the agreement with Jemena a few weeks back).

I'm not sure how I'd feel about that.  On one hand, receiving scrip in lieu of cash may be beneficial from a tax perspective (i.e. not being saddled with CGT I wasn't ready for just because I was forced to sell my SXY holdings at a substantial profit).  On the other hand, can BPT sustain its current growth?  They've been going gangbusters for the last 12 months or so, but how long can it last?  

Then, of course, there's the little issue of BPT attempting to lowball SXY, and whether or not the Chinese will step in and set off a bidding war.  Great news if they do, maybe not so great if they don't.

Looks like I may need to do some research on BPT.
