I do not want to sell at $5.03 at all.
Shell bought British Gas and became a global LNG heavyweight.
Total bought GdF`s LNG business and is becoming a global LNG heavyweight.
I know that companies like Shell, Total plan their strategies 10, 20, 30 year ahead.
My interpretation is that they think that LNG could be the next big thing for the future. When you look at the prognosis of gas consumption you see that more gas will be used during the next decades (from the past: always we have seen lousy predictions for the oil/gas price but on the other hand always we have seen very good predictions for the future amount of consumed oil/gas) . Plus natural gas has got the phantasy as bridging technology (create CH4 from H2O, CO2 with green electricity (wind mills, solar pannels - I know power to gas is a "Schmarrn" and doesn`t work economically today but it is one of these green today`s attractive phantasies for tomorrow ).
STO has got a very good position with their LNG business now and for the future plus short distances to Japan, Korea, China etc. compared to Qatar, USA etc . And nobody wants to buy gas from Russia only as single source (in Europe the russian gas price is influenced heavely if you have access to LNG or not for example). All of this circumstance make STO attractive now and even more for the future IMHO. Because of that $5.03 is low and I expect a much higher price for the future.
