I learnt 50 years ago from the Flemington Hill bookies; if you backed a dead-heater for the win you only got half the "collect" amount written on your ticket so if your D'Heater was at even money you only got your stake back.

Surely you appreciate your stake is halved because the other winners who backed the other dead-heater want to get a collect as well?

Then Maaze, because of the triple dead heat, effectively put $333.33 at $3.40 return = $1,133.30 rounded down.
