govt can create some new levy called the 'too much profit tax' if the banks make more than $500 mill a year - I think that would put a couple billion a year into the govt coffers; the govt can use 1.9 bill of the 2 bill yearly windfall revenue to run its new 'teach greedy corporates to not make a profit' dept; and the other 100 mill can be used on the pollies overseas junkets (I mean study travels)
ahhhhh, yes; maybe then we can start nationalising the mining industry; those bastards try to make a profit as well; I can just see how well our new BHP Shorten Pty Ltd company will do, with a the public servants driving the mining rigs; heck, we could even perhaps find the odd council worker who stands around doing nothing, to move over to supervise the big BHP Shorten govt haul trucks standing around doing nothing
there are many important societal enterprises the govt really needs to get more involved; the dismantling of the trams in Sydney those decades ago, then now rebuilding what they dismantled is a great economic project
The new Sydney light rail where the trains they bought are a little too wide for the tunnels - that is another money spinner; I mean you can create a new Jenny Craig For Trains department; I am not sure how you can get the trains to slim down, but I am sure just throwing money at the task will work
So, let us get started with the energy companies.... then banks... then mining.... Just look down the ASX (I see some insurance companies the govt should get their hands on). Maybe if the govt takes over the retailers they can swing some deals; get Jennifer Hawkins a pre-selection in a safe seat, and I bet she will do the Myer modelling again
The overall synergies, when you get the govt involved in all, are mind boogling

LOL. Perhaps Shorten and Kim Jong-Un can form an alliance and turn Australia into a communist country. The government takes over everything, which guarantees nothing will ever make a profit. Everybody gets paid $20 a week by the government, the government provides housing to everyone and everyone lines up in queues to get food. What a wonderful world it would be. Better book a flight before they put up an iron curtain.
