Personally I'm listening to the podcast Sci shared and will make a decision shortly about what my next steps may be. Currently leaning to Amibroker and running some very basic tests I can find online or perhaps we co-create here just to see how it goes and some of the question / discussions that emerge from that.

The first 5-10 podcasts from the podcast Sci shared are quite interesting, with similar themes and also differences.

I've quite quickly realised that there's quite a few 'spruikers' out there selling some very basic systems as tipping services mixed in with a sales pitch. I think finding a system that can return 10-20% is doable on longer time frame trading, not tomorrow and there's obviously pitfalls to consider and the like but that's my current thinking.

I'm less certain about what's possible with short term systems or index trading - probably with much more significant draw downs but again just some broad impressions, lots of work to do between here and success.

Happy to see there's interest here and also a couple ahead of me on the topic, hopefully we all bring something slightly different that means there's value for everyone here.
