I made a key error in my OP above.  Israel's forces are of course structured for defence (not a large scale offence).

I am wondering whether pressure from Israel is prompting Russia to behave more sensibly towards the Autonomous Administration in North Syria.  As posted it could all be a ruse.

There are multiple layers to all of this but a stronger Syria (which  requires a federation to hold together) could certainly lessen the influence of the Mad Mullahs.

I'm tired of Assad's arrogant stupidity but the Russians could guide him to achieve either positive or negative outcomes.  How do you view Assad ATM?
