It's not clear where @DoctorFouad gets the information which enables him to make his sweeping assertions regarding Syrah's battery-grade graphite production costs. The published figures from Syrah are, as @PollyWaffle points out, net of the value of the by-product high-grade recarburiser. @DoctorFouad may also have overlooked that Syrah benefits from having a much higher-grade raw material (16-18% graphite, vs a typical 5-8%), and from the inclusion of attrition cells in their plant, which provide output of 98% graphite - before any acid or thermal purification is even started. There seems little reason to doubt the Syrah figures, given that they are derived from solid, pilot-plant experience. That means engineering, not guesses plucked out of the air. It has been well-recognized by some of the brokers who have produced company reviews that battery-grade graphite will be in high demand, and is likely to be the major profit driver for the company. If they are anywhere near right, then the margins are very good, and will be critical to the long-term success of the company. I just hope it all happens before someone jumps in with a TO offer!
