So as you mentioned the technology these days is world class and whilst the company will have technicians (Electrical, mechanical etc) on site they wont necessarily be Sandvik. They will purchase a fully integrated service package and Sandvik will be able to dial in anytime of the day or not and assess the problems. This is not restricted to software assistance either. The diagnostic tools they have can identify step changes in moving parts to identify exactly what is not working and where to send the mechanics/electricians. For a complete mine to be running Automation through one supplier they will have excellent support. I would be highly surprised if they deviate from any of the above. I've seen first hand how efficient this process is as im an automation technician myself. I see this as an exciting step up in technology and cost saving as opposed to the money pit you've described.
