The Sayona project is not certain by any means, and it seems the locals are not happy having them attempt to avoid needing the appropriate environmental clearing process.
In Canada, in order to avoid the BAPE environmental regulations, a mine has to produce less than 2000t a day. SYA plans to produce 1900t...who do they think they are fooling here?
Even with the DFS, the company still has to get environmental permits, and this looks like it may be an issue. In fact the locals, who are petitioning for the project to be forced to adhere to BAPE regs, may actually cause significant delay. The consultation period alone looks like it is going to drag through q3 and q4 this year. Even then, the esker issue may warrant a full BAPE process to be followed. The hydrologist does not seem to have convinced the locals from what I am reading, quite the opposite.
This is for a small concentrator. Do you think that they are going to welcome your Stage 2 Hydroxide Plant with open arms?
Naïve to think that Sayona is a safe bet at this stage. Far from it.
