I love your work on HC. As you say in the end we all must rely on our own intuition and gut feel along with the research.
I have found that this is not that easy when you are young; but as you gain a bit of experience and you have seen the results of not listening to your gut feel, you learn to trust that intuition. Thats when it becomes very useful.
