"Even though the vaccine is highly effective, globally around 110,000 people died from measles in 2017, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Most of them were children under the age of five."

And virtually all of them were in underdeveloped nations or due to improper treatment. I wonder why?

Vitamin A deficiency affects both morbidity and mortality associated with measles, hence deaths from measles today only occurs in malnourished populations or when vitamin A supplementation is not initiated. This is also why the death rate from measles plunged BEFORE the vaccine was introduced in developed nations simply due to improved nutrition. And childhood measles provides immunity for life, unlike the vaccine, while priming a developing immune system to fight future infections and, as recent studies have shown, even reduces the risk of cancer and heart disease later in life. The same lifestyle and nutrition improvements should be occurring in underdeveloped nations today too rather than the billions of dollars wasted on harmful vaccination programs.
