    "Answering the call from Vietnam
    MICHAEL SO is certain English
    Premier League soccer and cheap
phone calls will be a winning
    combination in Vietnam.
The head of acquisitive telco M2M
    Corporation is looking to piggyback
    cheap internet calls onto the
    popular pay-TV soccer channel soon.
"If we can build up a big subscriber
base, we think it will be a fantastic
    business," said Michael yesterday.
At the moment VOIP (voice over
    internet protocol) calls are technically
illegal in Vietnam so m2m's rollout in
a joint venture with the state-owned
    Vietnam Multimedia Corporation will
    be a first.
Over the past 10 months m2m has
    been busily buying wholesale and
retail telco, online and IT companies
    across Asia.
Now Michael is determined to knit
    the network of disparate companies
    into a compact telco powerhouse.
Vietnam and China are the big
    targets, particularly for mobile
    phone based VOIP calls.
    In Asia, mobile phones are
    everywhere but not everyone can
afford to use them. If you can offer a
system that allows for calls at a
cheaper rate we think there is a huge
    untapped market."
Even allowing maids in Hong Kong
to phone their family in other parts
of Asia on a mobile phone would be a
    massive market.
    While m2m is Australian-listed and
has some local assets, Michael said
    the big numbers and growth
potential of Asia would remain its
    focus. Along with converting the
large revenue uptick of the rash of
    acquisitions into some positive cash
    flow and profit."

This was sent to him because he missed it, by Monsoon , the PR company who look after MCL - keep up the good work,Kamini - great editorial..
