Come to think of it, it's dumb. Most pro level surfers come from France or French territorial islands, Australia, America, Brazil, Indonesia, Pacific islands like Fiji or Tahiti or Brazil and a couple of other South American nations. Don't know why you would include it. It would rather watch fencing at the Olympics.

I think this has no potential for surf retailers. The only people who will care about gold medals are sponsors.

Good surfers want to surf good waves. So unless Thaiti, indo or straya etc get the Olympics then you looking at suboptimal surf. Scratch that surf is seasonal too. It's going to have to be wave pool 100%.

You are missing the point, it's not about wave pools in Italy etc , it' s about awareness. People watch this sport at the Olympics, think "wow! that looks cool "and then follow Pipeline and surf events or go on holiday to Surfing country's etc. This is where it will lead to more awareness of surf/skate culture and clothing and a desire to purchase Surf/Skate clothing etc.
