Encounter Resources defines supergene copper zones in Western Australia

Encounter Resources (ASX: ENR) has defined three zones of supergene copper mineralisation from reverse circulation drilling at its BM7 South prospect in Western Australia.

Results from the 19 hole program included an 8 metre at 1.97% copper and 1,076ppm cobalt intersection from 58 metres depth within a broader 52 metres at 0.55% copper and 378ppm cobalt zone from 42 metres.

This hole is located 200 metres south of an aircore hole that returned an intersection of 9 metres at 1.54% copper and 1% cobalt from 42 metres to end of hole.

In addition, a broad copper sulphide intersection of 104 metres at 0.2% copper, 175ppm cobalt was made on the eastern flank of the central copper regolith anomaly. This hole ended short of the target depth due to mechanical issues with the drill rig.

This program was primarily designed to test areas where the previous aircore drilling was only partially effective as holes did not penetrate through to the base of the weathered Proterozoic sediments.

It has delivered a series of targets that Encounter will test in the 2013 drill season and has indicated the 11 kilometre copper system that parallels the McKay Fault zone is strengthening to the south and remains open.

The areas of higher grade supergene copper mineralisation with coincident IP or EM geophysical targets will be the priority targets for this planned deeper drill program.

BM7 is located in the Yeneena project, which covers 1,400 square kilometres in Paterson Province.
