One would have thought if it were so smart that it wouldn't have got stuck in the ditch in the first place
their intellect combined with their boundless energy probably accounts for why so many of them go crazy (seriously mentally ill) in cities and towns where people either don't exercise them or manange to only get the dog to exercise a few kilometres at most -
these dogs are quite bright - but, they also can run hundreds of kilometres a day then, when finished work, come home and want to play - quite amazing creatures.
I have met and lived with several - not my choice. I have yet to find a dog as smart as a Japanese Spitz - also, not all that easy to live with because of their exercise needs -- outside of that - IMO - the most developed animal bonding of all to a human - knows every psychological and body language trick in the book. It takes evolution and genetics to a whole new level.
