"We are all replaceable".
Most of us here are replaceable, although we may be missed. But I have met the odd person who undeniably has contributed so much to human endeavour that while not impossible it would be unlikely another person would have done as well.
Hopefully those individuals take the opportunity to pass on their understanding to a newer generation, but true genius in a particular area is a rare jewel.
