I certainly don’t think he was the real deal.
However what I’ve struggled with is this: it also seems an incredibly stupid plan to try to plunder people’s money via an LIC on the ASX. Surely they knew they’d get found out much, much quicker that way?
Maybe he just thought he was above those laws. It certainly seems that he treats the truth and regulations with disdain.
Or did he actually believe he could do the trading thing, then failed and swapped strategies mid way?
Whatever the answer, I think he suffered from some serious delusions of grandeur, possibly mental illnesses, and then was brought back to earth and reality eventually
