Who says "foreign holders" (SinTang) are exiting? Is there any evidence of that? "Foreigners" (XStrata) made all this possible.
I think you are taking this the wrong way asf. There's no anti-foreign sentiment here. Its just mathematics. The franking credit has no value to a non-resident. The franking credit has massive benefit to a domestic super or pension fund.
it makes sense for a "foreign" sharholder to take the capital now and forego the dividend. They may even buy back once the stock goes ex-div.
There was a really good post in the "dividend" thread that explained the value of the div and capital return at various tax rates.
