It is possible that the premise on which St Barbara originally invested has not come to fruition.
I have not read anything that suggests St Barbara has any intention of moving away from their core business of gold mining.
Maybe they believed that initial indications at Peel's deposits may have led to a substantial gold resource. The gold credits at S.N / Wagga Tank or M.B are ok. But nothing like the grades or more importantly the tonnage that St Barbara would be seeking.
I believe their Peel holding is now just an investment only. I don't believe SBM is interested in taking over Peel or buying any of their deposits.
