"someone is loosing in this game... it still does not add up for me.... we appear in the best financial position ever and the s/p dropped from a high of 460ish 2 years ago to 212 today...."  

It's certainly not me...!    and, I've just put our family's cat and dog up for sale on flea-bay to get some more $$ to buy even more bargain-priced GXY shares.    Thanks be to the great deity of one's own choosing, for these shorters...!!
