Ashgrove, like you, I notice that some places are taking the interim step of confirming TST positives with QFTG. Obviously, from our point of view, this is not the final result that we would prefer. However, given the huge number of false positives given by TST this alone still gives a huge market. Of course, over time, the light bulb will come on and the TST will be deleted from the program.
Having now developed some understanding of how medical beaurocracies work, it is often not possible to simply change over night from one procedure to another. Clearly this staged approach is one that works for some authorities.
Have you noticed that New York City Department of Health have now discontinued the use of TST in favor of 100% testing with QFTG? Whilst many authorities have dipped their toe in the water by using both tests, we can look to see more authorities following this lead, particularly as they become more comfortable with QFTG. No doubt this will accelerate when In-Tube becomes FDA approved shortly.
