yep, that's exactly whats happened. Instos load up on the CR then sell down back to their index weighting. Even if they sold some at below acquisition costs, they will still be ahead. Its a no brainer (though still with risks).
Expect the SP to even out at a couple of cents below the SPP, to reflect brokerage.
