The overly complicated and difficult afterpay you mean
As an afterpay consumer - you have to set up an account with afterpay, it only pays for X value items, and you can only use it once at at time. very complicated and of little / limited use
With splitit - you click " Splitit " at checkout, click the number of months you want to pay the item off, enter your e-mail address and that is it, There are no checks, no limits except for your credit card limit, no limit to the number of times you use it, no sign up like afterpay - it is as straight forward as it could possibly get.
PS - you do not need a credit card to use splitit, you can use a regular debit card
