People are getting curious with the type of coal the 100m seam TVN has drilled. TVN has stated that it is a high quality thermal coal. They cannot just say that, there must be enough evidence for them to support that statement.
Should it be of a lower quality thermal/brown coal, my friend Robin Bromby from the australian states:
l MEMO to Julia Gillard: Prime Minister, before you pull the trigger on the brown coal industry in Victoria, check out the plan by Kobe Steel and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to boost the use of brown coal to generate electricity.
Their new technology will, according to the report from Tokyo, be able to generate 20 per cent more power than the most modern high-quality black coal plant standing today -- oh, and generate 20 per cent less carbon dioxide.
Brown coal does have a future and i cannot see why it would not work for TVN.
