    OUR STORY
    Experience that can be trusted

SG Fleet Group Limited (sgfleet) is a significant player in the international fleet management and leasing industry, with operations in Australia, New Zealand and United Kingdom. sgfleet manages in excess of 83,000 assets and is also a leading provider of vehicle salary packaging solutions in the Australian and UK marketplace.
sgfleet's decades of experience commenced in Australia with the formation of Leaseway Transportation in 1986 as a specialist fleet management company. Quickly following in 1988, was the establishment of a joint venture with CBFC (the finance company arm of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia). Leaseway brought fleet management expertise to the joint venture while CBFC brought financing capability for the underlying leases.
In the late Nineties, Commonwealth Bank acquired Leaseway Transportation, rebranding it in 2000 as Commonwealth Fleet Lease. This led to the establishment of a business relationship with Commonwealth Bank that continues today.
In 2004, Super Group, a South African conglomerate listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, bought this highly successful Fleet Management business from Commonwealth Bank. Immediately upon acquisition, Super Group, a South African conglomerate listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, rebranded Commonwealth Fleet Lease as FleetAustralia.

In May 2005, FleetAustralia acquired SMB Salary Packaging, which was a leading specialist provider of vehicle salary packaging services in the Australian marketplace. In 2007, the business, which had branches in every state of Australia, further expanded its fleet operations by establishing offices in the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

Subsequent to the acquisition of the National Australia Bank’s Commercial Fleet portfolio, Super Group consolidated its fleet management and salary packaging interests. These comprised of FleetAustralia, SMB Salary Packaging and Commercial Fleet. In April 2008, they were united under one brand - sgfleet.

In April 2011, a consortium led by CHAMP Ventures, and including the senior management team of sgfleet, made a significant investment in sgfleet, alongside the current parent company, Super Group. This association supported sgfleet’s growth plans, with management working closely with CHAMP Ventures and Super Group to develop and strengthen the sgfleetbusiness to the point where it was ready to evolve as a listed entity.

In March 2014, SG Fleet Group Limited listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) with a market capitalisation of $449 million.  Super Group maintains its commitment to the long-term growth of the sgfleet business, retaining a controlling shareholding of 52%.

sgfleet’s specialist staff apply their skills across all facets of its operations.sgfleet’s business model harnesses the skills of this experienced team to ensure that this international business is at the forefront of innovation and customer service.
