    After checking it out, it appears that nearly 60% of total reserves in China are concentrated in the area where the earthquake struck, being the regions of Sichuan, Hubei, Hunan and Guangxi.

    The epicentre as shown on the following link pretty much affected this entire region, so it is therefore possible that some of the mines in these areas could be out of production temporarily, which you would expect, lead to a supply shortage in the short to medium term, pushing global prices for the commoditiy northwards.
