FWIW, I completely agree with you about the terrible illogicality of building seawater-cooled nuclear power stations in such vulnerable localities. AND then storing their used fuel rods ‘for security’ in a large swimming pool on the top floor of each reactor building that could only be cooled by electrically pumped water, with back up power in the basement that flooded first in the tsunami!
It was these rods that overheated and led to a gas explosion when the water tank cracked that set of the real disaster.
The four Fukushima plants were the oldest in Japan, and were scheduled to be closed and dismantled only months after the disaster.
And yes, while nobody died of radiation, thousands died from the subsequent panic and terrible personal disruption, that even included some elderly popeople in care homes who were abandoned in a few cases, not to mention all the farm animals left to die from thirst and starvation....
