Darren this is my take.
People fall for "spin" and lose their money all the time on the market.
If it wasn't for those people IMHO the market basically could not function in its current form.
It's like casinos, no one rolls into Vegas thinking "hey I'm gonna leave here stone cold broke". Everyone thinks they will be the exception to the rule. Then they leave with empty pockets.
Not having a go but from memory a certain someone put the spin on you and had you sold for a while there after a phone call? (please don't take that as having a personal dig, we've all done it)
If you spin it hard enough and fast enough someone will usually buy it all the way until the end.
