Father Ted I am enjoying the image of a man of the cloth hiring a jet full of attractive ladies and alcohol but I don't see any positive outcome from winding up Sol1 who is one of the most valuable contributors on this forum. I have Sol1 to thank for my decision to add well over a million shares to my DGR holding this year at less than half their current price. He made me revisit my investment proposition.
Long term investors here all share the conviction that SOLG will transform DGR.
Each holder of DGR has different : Investment horizons, financial positions, knowledge of geology and mining companies, understanding of mergers and acquisitions and psychological makeup. This makes a market.
I have a 10 year horizon for DGR. I sold the majority of my Pacmag shares into the 10 bagger market Entree Gold created when it announced its takeover bid. I exchanged the balance of my shares for Entrée shares and cash.
Entrée is relevant as it has a big interest in the tenements surrounding Oyu Tolgoi.
This mine is a good comparison as a number of commentators are saying the multiple targets at Cascabel may substantially exceed Oyu Tolgois valuation at takeover time of 3 Billion. We may have a value of multiples of 3 Billion.
I believe Friedlander wasn't in a position to negotiate the best deal. His company was stretched financially, Rio was playing hard ball and the Mongolian Government were a nightmare to deal with. So the value may have got to 6 Billion plus in other circumstances.
My guess is that the takeover of SOLG will create a market cap of 3-10 Billion. This puts hundreds of millions into DGRs treasury and will drive the price to at least NTA.
