Thanks Sems. Im a bit light on research with the key ingredients re - Cornerstone cash balance, their exploration cash requirements as part of the J.V, (this will probably be disputed in addition to what actually constitues Cascabel I imagine).

It would be good to pull the exploration projects apart and do a little side by side analysis. I think SOLG have the advantage of experience in the field, the contractors lined up, support of the majors in addition to the exploration being theirs entirely not having sold the projects down.

Sensibly I setup an account to buy cornerstone but stupidly I never bothered to do it. In hindsight I missed the obviousness of the push that would happen by SOLG. SOLG pretty much telegraphed it by including the caveat that Cornerstone could not be taken over before October by (was it Newcrest).

There was 15% or so that I have missed on an easy trade here.

Silly boy. Congrats to those who picked it. I guess the people out there smart enough to pick it are probably aware of the financial situation at cornerstone and will be thinking about whether Cornerstone will keep rising, I imagine it will, but also whether the financial situation becomes dire in 3-4 months time if no merger transpires.
