Those that went through the GFC learnt a lot. 23 -that's impressive. I have a very good friend who had assignments assisting FED executives from different central banks ( I think they have state central banks in the USA) to cope in environments where no-one had been through the events unfolding. I think he has just renewed his career. The computers all trying to rebalance whilst each one has a different position it seems we have corrections in one week instead of a month lol.

I like the topping up in offshoots - I have not got that right. I have owned TPG, CLV , NHC and API - even RHL ( no longer part of group etc). However, when I look at the past I have often sold them and bought the motherships - I see BKW and SOL are different variants of each other. I especially like the cross-holdings. How many times have I lost out to an opportunistic buyout of equity and they go off and make a lot more leaving us on the sidelines. This cross-holding does act as a blocking mechanism which I like.

Probably I wish that they had more tech or industrial (not cyclical) but think that the PCG investment it where that will be. I still like the direct approach as well not just investment management.
