In Sydney you don't need a speedometre as the only speed they travel is dead slow.
It's a bit like Sydney airport. I lived in Barnes in London which is South of the Thames from Hammersmith and right under the flight path to Heathrow. The time between aircraft was 30 seconds.
I now live in the Northern suburbs of Sydney. The time between flights is about 2.5 to 4 minutes because ATC Sydney craps their pants if anything comes in closer.
It takes 40 odd minutes to get a train from Central to Hornsby (and that is a limited stops train). The same distance in London would be travelled in 25 minutes..... with more stations.
