here is what I believe is happening at derewo, the pink line is the former course of the river before the mountain slumped and altered it's course, the red line running horizontal is the derewo river flowing right to left, the red line that runs vertically is the tributary that joins the derewo from the wopogi at area 81, to the right of area 99 is another smaller tributary with much less flow which may be the source of the nuggets but more likely the main river is the source of the 1kg nugget because of the flow pressure needed to move nuggets that size.
the tributary at area 81 could also be a source of nuggets as the gold is different in areas 81,99 and that is something the geologists will confirm in due course, tried to post a map from google earth that shows the valleys on either side of the slumped mountain but couldn't get it happening but it shows 2 clear valleys that could probably transport nuggets when sufficient water is flowing, and lastly there is also a slim possibility that the slump from "MT DEREWO" is the source of the nuggets but as the nuggets are generally found at water level this possibility is doubtful, I guess they would have found nuggets when doing the earthworks for the airstrip and we know that not to be the case.
so for now we have to sit back and wait for the biggest announcement of our history which will inform us that mining has started and hopefully it will be hours/days away with results of the first clean up of the boxes, trevor neale has either 15 or 25 years experience running this type of operation across the border so i'm confident he can find what he is looking for and make everybody happy in the process.
