sbm didn't go 15 cents to 5 dollars,,sounds awesome there are some ppl that are there but the vast majority of the sub 15 centers are long gone
It went from over 4pus to 10 cents intra day, ppl said it was the bottom at 3, at 177.....some people after over a decade only got their money back, even at 45 some long termers wouldn't be happy with the return.
truth be told, it fell from prices far far higher than A40 ever reached, spun out of sonn of Gwalia, saddled with huge huge debts, commodity price collapse and low reserves which fall in value when gold price tanked
it came very very close to the grave
by luck, a huge turn in gold prices and slump in AUD and some hedging, something that others in the space pretty much refused to do, and it survived.
Whilst I didn't get in there at rock bottom, SBM has been good to me for many years, do some more searching and you'll see where I recommended it a buy, when I sold it and when I traded it. Good crowd of ppl there from time to time, many of which have been in the gold space for some time. ppl thought it was thr bottom when it was was over $1
SBM survived because Vassie imo took advantages of spikes in the AUD gold price thanks to global misunderstanding of usa qe, and hedged to make sure that the business was always making a positive margin, and recently expanded the mine plan after years of concerns about reserves. It didn't happen overnight
It took some time but the debt was paid off and now there is 357M in the bank and its paying dividends
Once, and only once the turnaround was clear, I bought back in, I don't care if I missed the first 2 dollar rebound.
I only looked at a40 first because Vassie got appointed. but I don't think a40 or sbm are the same, or in the same position in terms of trade.
Vassie has made quite a number of investments in other gold companies, none of them have really come off, but unlike others he doesn't go in there guns blazing with shareholders money.
To try and draw a nexus to the trading of sbm and a40 at that single moment ,is ridiculous imo
anyway carry on talking about things which imv are quite frankly ridiculous to the trade of a40
