Let's not forget MEL, almost lost my shirt, had to walk away from the market for a few years and regroup after that mess lol!! Here's what i think of Senex.....at the start of the year NSW intoduced "Return and Earn", 10c per can or bottle. So every afternoon, after he gets off the schoolbus, my 13yr old son grabs a garbage bag and off he goes collecting whatever cans/bottles he can find. Once or twice a week i drive him down to the depot and he'll consistently get $30-$40 per week for his efforts. He's been sticking it away in a bank account and grown it to $1350 (with no help from the mesely interest). So as most 13yr olds do he's been looking online to see what he might like to spend his money on. It was at this point i started talking to him about the future impact of saving and compounding those savings from a young age, rather than spending just because you have it (wish someone had told me this at 13 lol!!). I explained the importance of making your money work for you, that interest in a bank account barely covers inflation so perhaps we should look at investing it somehow.....his eyes glazed over by this point as he was pretty keen on a new Apple watch and it was a bit of a dull topic. However, he did agree to give it a shot and asked me what would be a good investment......without hesitation or second thought the words that shot out of my mouth were "Senex Energy". When faced with the question of which company was worthy of my sons hard earned money, that was relatively "safe" with potential for decent growth over the long term, Senex was the only company i felt completely comfortable with. Anyway at COB yesterday i bought him 3500 SXY @ 38c and we saved the stockcode into his phones "stocks" app.....comes running off the bus this arvo "dad Senex went up 2.5c today!!! I made $87.50!!!".....what a proud moment haha!!! Just lucky SXY played the game today as it's lit a flame in him that will hopefully set him on a good course for the future. Needless to say he was straight out the door collecting cans so he can buy his next lot of shares
