DJ Macquarie Airports Preferred Bidder For Exeter Airport
SYDNEY (Dow Jones)--Australia's Macquarie Airports (MAP.AU) said Friday that a consortium in which it is involved has been named preferred bidder to acquire a 90% holding in England's Exeter International Airport.
South West Airports Consortium, jointly owned by Macquarie Airports Group and Spain's Grupo Ferrovial SA (FER.MC), will enter into exclusive negotiations with the Devon County Council to reach final agreement, MAP said in a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange.
Macquarie Airports holds a 61.5% stake in Macquarie Airports Group.

MAP said that if the consortium completes the acquisition of Exeter airport, it will be internally funded.
Exeter is one of the highest-growth airports in England, with the number of passengers during the year ended March 31 rising 71% to 670,690, from 392,445 a year earlier, the statement said.
