That is a good idea. However during 2018 it turned out to be a double edged sword. For instance if you looked at the big 4 banks, and picked the highest percentage dividend yield, that was N.A.B. One year ago the SP was around $5 higher than now, and balanced against that the dividend was $1.98 plus Franking Credit. Even if you did not pay any tax on the income, you would be down about $2.18 per share, or 7.5% overall, even more if you factor in lost opportunity to invest elsewhere.
