There are serious flaws in your response. Firstly The likelihood that these electronic additions are 5% of the total cost of the plane is minute. I would think less than 0.5% of the total cost.
Then in your case, you would go to the grieving family of each deceased person, and say that we decided to save money by deciding to omit an essential safety indicator and It cost 346 lives, so far, but the Airline is more profitable as a result.
I know, even to write this is sickening. When we are not personally touched by tragedy, it is easy to say that economics must take some sort priority. It is not the same as extra air bags in a motor vehicle. It is like not fitting effective brakes in a high powered car.
