Bit easier in the spec market those days
Was first to get 12 in a row.....but because I had more picks total, my ave was over 80% then GT Trader came along and did my 12 with 100%! later that year. STT was on fire 2015-16 but the spec end made many look good.
My trading style constantly shifts with market
Underlying FA (for finding undervalue/ catalysts and TA (entry/exit) really doesn't so much now...but always moving into sectors early, or with early signs.
I just have far less specs in portfolio at present, I'm heavily weighted to Biotech and Gold at present...and gone through a supposedly tough asx market with great returns.
Less positions, larger amounts, and bigger caps at present.
As others have said, it has taken some of them 15 years to 'click"
You have to be ahead of the trends, and not get into them late or as they are rolling over....most get caught holding specs when liquidity in a sector dries right up.
Sometimes these trends give you multiple signals but the market can lag a bit on less than $100-$200m cap stocks.
If a sector you think has legs but you're not sure, take a little bite of your favorite junior and this will help to stay interested in watching it....buy more as it confirms, buy wider when on way.
