Even though I've benefited in the past from neg gearing & capital gains, it really does seem a deeply unfair policy for non home owners, and those to whom capital gains tax doesn't apply. But I'm on a defined benefit pension as well, and despite enjoying it very much (thank you taxpayers!), have thought it unfair ever since it was introduced.
And I'm old and conservative, but these do appear to be unfair tax breaks. And some free money handed back to families also.
Sorry to be off topic, but you did ring a chord Malaga. And your situation, as a later participant in these policies, is sympathised with. It's so easy for people, like me, who have previously benefited and are now out of it, to decry the system.
