I spent most of my 'adult' life in WA after 'growng up' in QLD - one doesn't really growup in the sunshine state; like Peter Pan, it's an endless battle with pirates, and if you're on the coast, mermaids too.
However, before settling in the sandbucket, I went abroad to broaden from my childhood deprivation, but only to 'learn' that the European cultured lot really missed the boat, and should have joined our first fleet. So much for an education. Rome had had its day and the renaissance had shifted, and as for the Greeks, the only philosophical note remaining were Sweedish shrills from empty ouzo bottles, which if anything, did bring back some moments when nymphs roamed the alleyways. Not that I was entitled to any of the booty, not having by birth the jewels that all Greek stallions are blessed with.
Alas, I settled between the sand and a rock, giving up Rhodes for Rockingham, made what do with my crystal balls, and raised a small brood of mixed race, which fortunately managed to become well balanced amoung the local inbreeds. Their European embryos must have been able to sprout better in the sunnier landscape, proving that the old countries should have been left barren in 1629, or at least in 1770.
But that's all over now and I've moved on to more plastic surrounds. No more urbanized sand dunes, no more sculptured beer. It's all wall to wall homonoids here, and the culture is to be imagined as a game between robots, but with no programming, and certainly no rules. Complete random happenchance dictates all movement, and the results must be like what happened in those first nanoseconds after the BB, when chaos first evolved but seemd to blend into something resembling order.
Much like the ASX, to cut this short.
Only hold BD1, only because I'm rearranging the furniture. But love BGT, if one is to love at all.
