Well it seems confusion on the Carbonate and Hydroxide thing has been a contributing factor... with the soft pricing for Carbonate.
Morgan Stanley coming out with "research" claiming future over supply issues based on output from the South American brine operations is seen by many as being a catalyst for sparking declines.
Lots of institutional shorting activity which seens to be taking advantage of doubts about demand. As in widespread EV adoption is in the process of ramping up, will global production capacity of lithium hydroxide overshoot in the near term as the Electric transport and power storage revolution takes hold.
Also all the new Aussie lithium miners are at that vulnerable stage in the ramp up of their operations where plant performance, production targets and cash flow/profit margin are all in the process of being proven.
Those are few factors in very brief terms, probably not helped by the prevalance of short term traders and shareholders with lack of conviction on the ASX.
