Hmmm, I think your calculations are incorrect.
Firstly the short sales are likely to be stock borrowed from a major shareholder rather than from small shareholders.
Secondly since the ASX in its infinite wisdom does not tell us how many of the short sales have been covered, there is no way of knowing how many open short positions are in the market at any given time.
