Interesting article in the AFR today, CEO of Origin raises the possibility of switching off coal plants during the day during peak solar production. This would require heavy modifications to the plant as they are designed to run non stop.

Clear indication that that black coal is struggling to remain competitive. I still believe black coal plants will become uneconomical very quickly. Gas will be too expensive to fill the gap leaving renewables and battery/hydro storage to save the day. This should continue to support higher electricity prices. A win win for IFN!
