with AOE taking out LNG from the FL project, where does that leave Shell? Shell has 30% of the AOE permits? Shell has plans for its own LNG project on Curtis Island? Shell appears Not to have enough gas for its planned LNG project (i recall its multiple mtpa)
If AOE now have 100% of FLLNG, then that really simplifies the structure, doesn't it?
Whilst the FLLNG project is only small at 1.5mptpa, it appears AOE intend to ramp up to a second train - so 3.0 mtpa. Is the FLLNG scaleable to fit Shell's ambitions? Would that be of interest to Shell? I read somewhere that Shell uses a different technology for its LNG plants. I wonder if they would use the FLLNG technology. The AOE announcement makes no mention of AOE using the LNG Ltd personnel. So I wonder if they will be using Shell people? If they are, then that indicates that Shell and AOE may get into bed together wrt the FLLNG project. What's the bet - Shell takes 30% j/v share in FLLNG, and mothballs its own LNG plans.
cheers
