EB,
It is obvious Oropa needs to raise funds in the near term based on their quarterly, with the cash remaining and expected cash burn.
Your expectation that such a raising will be all bad news and at a big discount is just speculation. The gold market is booming which helps. Capital raisings can be good news with a nice clearng rally at times. It depends on how they are handled and who is involved etc.
Last capital raising was at the depths of the credit crunch, a very different situation.
Martabe has 6moz and sold for US$211m (google it), which equates to US$35/oz. It looked to be a great deal and reflects on the difficult financing market etc.
Remember, Martabe has not grown resources in some time, but Oropa is still growing resources, so you expect to pay a premium for optionality of resource growth when its there.
Given your scepticism EB, you ought to sell out and move on.
If you are a shareholder then perhaps justify to this board why you don't sell (ie the positives). Clearly a balanced debate will give you greater credibility than otherwise. I agree some others have been overly positive in the past.
The problem with being biased negative as opposed to positive it that it makes you appear as though you have agenda, which is quite different from other "perpetually hopeful and optimistic investors". Thus balance is ore important if you continually sell a negative story versus a positive one.
To the Uranium story:
Uranium is grass roots and has great potential, but Oropa is a gold company with Asian expertise and not much history in Africa or the complex affairs and politics of uranium. Hard to see why Oropa ever went there except as maybe a desparate gambit at getting in on "the next big thing" which is never a good long term value adding strategy. Just another black mark against the old guard.
Who knows about uranium value or deal potential, but maybe its a sleeper for the future in some fashion? It needs specific management expertise however one would think.
Good debating to you all.
