PPL’s global growth strategy is to build massive scale via publishers and create a new highly targeted and high yield consumer driven media model. PPL are now entering a phase where there is an opportunity to create a self-reinforcing virtuous cycle of growth enabled by technology. A key point of difference for PPL is the opportunity to deliver this growth with limited customer acquisition costs. We have significantly upgraded our Price Target for PPL from $0.87 per share to $1.30 per share, an increase of ~50%.
Data & Insights
PPL’s strategy to use scale partners to drive growth at a low cost per customer acquisition is done by the scale partners use of the Pureprofile technology platform (Connect). Potentially the most immediate and exciting opportunity is the “opportunity to strengthen the alliance with News Limited by continuing to deliver enhanced features and giving News Limited the ability to extend its alliance with PPL globally”.
Programmatic Media
PPL offers an integrated play in the high growth global programmatic media market (estimated to grow 30%+ p.a. to ~$53B by 2018). PPL is well placed to exceed this growth rate with their differentiated and increasingly global offering. Since launching in the US in February 2016, PPL has secured 15 new publisher clients with an indication of a strong pipeline of publishers that PPL expect to sign in the coming months.
Virtuous Cycle of Growth Opportunity
PPL are now entering a phase where there is the opportunity to create a virtuous cycle of growth based on: a high quality and fast growing profile database; an industry leading technology platform; and increasing relationships with global content owners/publishers and market/advertising researchers. PPL has laid the necessary foundation from a technology, customer pipeline and resource capability to deliver.
