Phew, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who got lost in Europe!...

Phew, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who got lost in Europe! My 20s were pretty much spent in airports and chasing sun, sand, sangria and shielas - all the S's .... just not the one I'm chasing now that Im 30; Stocks. Got the shiela locked in and some little bambinos aren't too far off the horizon so she has definitely tamed my wild brumby Greek Island loving heart. Like you, will be paying for that in retirement but they're bloody good memories!


So, I have had a crack at running the numbers .... here we go ..... *braces for impending ridicule* ..... I reckon I could survive off $40k of dividends a year. This would be suplimented by 1-2 days of casual work which is I'm lucky in my industry to get very easily - one of my good life choices! Which means if I was getting 5 % P.A on my portfolio I'd need $800k by the maturation age of 50 in order to be financially able to retire?


I wish I had the knowledge of you guys with the LIC game but I have a lot to learn. Ive been lookIng at LIC Info all night and wowee so many options and so much to take In! I came across an EFTwatch.com link that had the best performing LICs and ETFs on It for 2018 and a lot of the top ones I had never heard of! My head exploded. I wonder if I should just stick to the basics and build a portfolio of AFIC, ARG and maybe another LIC like Milton, AUI, WAM global or a VDHG ETF and just build it up on that. I think I read somewhere that Thornhill has 4 x LICs In his portfolio that he focuses on. No doubt he has ETF and heaps of individual stocks in there too though.
