Hi Furpo,
Not quite sure i understand what you mean by sell/buy in regards to short, there is a bit to shorting which i probably can't explain very well, probably worth researching it a bit more your self.
But basically its when someone (normally a insto) borrows shares (for a fee) and then sells them, they then have to return the shares back to the owner after a time frame, but the shorter hopes the SP falls and then they buy them back at a reduced rate and hence make a profit between the difference.
I haven't done it myself, but I understand that even smaller investors can do this, there are of course other ways of shorting but this is the main.
I have inserted a link below to the shortman page it can be interesting to read, the top 20 or so shares seem to get hammered but really SGP has nothing to worry about ATM.
