It’s still the 300 stocks with largest market cap on ASX, excluding the illiquid ones. SFG has problems on 2 fronts - the liquidity and also the Investable Weight Factor (IWF). Shares owned as strategic stakes, holdings > 5%, and shares held by directors and founders are considered illiquid and not included in relative weighting. In SFG’s case, directors + Nissui hold about 50%, and would fall in under this clause. I calculate top 20 holders including directors have at least 68% of the company, and there is probably at least another 15% (ok that’s a guess, but I would be included here and doubt I am alone) which doesn’t make top 20 but is tightly held. This explains low liquidity and that will not change for the moment. Unless big capital raise or major SP increase I would be very surprised to see SFG included in ASX 300 at next rebalance or even the one after that.
